Pet a Cat, Make Your Day at the Hawai’i Cat Café!
Hawai’i Cat Cafe – Come in for a cup of coffee and maybe even leave with a feline friend!
If you’re a cat person and you’re looking for a nice place to unwind after a long day, there’s no better place to do it than at the Hawai’i cat café. As the first cat café in the state, here you can enjoy a cup of coffee and lounge with some amazing cats. And the best part? They’re all adoptable! Unlike some of the Asian cat cafes that stick to pure breed cats, this café is partnered with the Oahu SPCA and offers on site adoption. But if you’re just looking to spend some time with these cute fur babies that’s just fine too.
Rates for the Hawai’i Cat Café start at $10 for a half hour, or $15 for a full hour in the cat room. Once you’re inside, someone will introduce all of the cats by name and you’re free to play with thing. I found that unlike the Asian cat cafes I’ve been to, all of these cats are curious and love human interaction.
We were first greeted by Minnie, a sweet four-year-old who loves to be pet and didn’t mind being picked up. Sesame, the Siamese also loved cuddles and giving kisses. There was also a cute little kitten named Rye who loved running around and giving cuddles. The variety was amazing, we even got to meet a very talkative nine-year-old named Diamond, and she loved chin scratches.
The Hawai’i Cat Cafe is open from 4-8pm daily and 10am-8pm on Saturdays. Parking is a little tricky, they have three spots on the side of the café dedicated to customer parking and there is a nearby bank parking lot that is OK to park after hours, but it’s well worth the trip. My only regret is that I didn’t get to try the coffee as their bar wasn’t up and running yet, but it should be within the next week.
