Oahu Sea Life Park
Sea Life Park is a favorite treat for visitors and local residents alike. It’s a great place to take the kids for a day out especially those 12 and under and being nestled between the breathtaking cliffs and ocean of Waimanalo, on Oahu’s East side, it makes an ideal outing to combine with a trip to the beach before or after.

The park itself is intimate and all the activities it offers can easily be experienced in one day session. Entrance fees include all the sea life shows with dolphins, sea lions & penguins. You can feed green sea turtles and view sharks, rays, and exotic fish in the glass aquarium as you enter the park. There’s also a fun playground for the kids, a tide pool petting zoo where guests can touch a variety of small sea creatures, and a bird aviary where you can feed and hold parrots. A strong focus on ocean conservation and education are woven into everything they do so besides having fun you can learn a few interesting things too.
Those who have the extra cash to spend can book a private session to get in the water and have a first-hand experience with dolphins or rays. The usual fare of gifts, overpriced snacks, and low quality food are available for purchase but I recommend you save your money and do the following:
Grab some coffee and muffins and catch the sunrise on the beach across the road from the park before they open or come a little later and enjoy the scenic drive around the East-side of the island from town. After spending the day at Sea Life Park head into Waimanalo town for some local eats. There’s a great steak & seafood plate lunch restaurant called Ono Steaks & Shrimp Shack that will have your mouth watering after a long day out. Finish up with ice-cream or shave ice from Keneke’s, a small pull-over window right off the hwy next door to the 7-11 store.
If you’re looking for more fancy food fare, the beach town of Kailua is just a 10-15min. drive past Waimanalo and you can find all kinds of dining there. Kailua is an outing all its own if you’d like to rent a kayak or bike to tour the town by land and sea. The town itself is a cross between a quaint beach town and mini Waikiki. Check our other posts for more details and highlights from Kailua.
