Nuuanu Pali lookout – one of the most spectacular vantage points on the island overlooking the eastern, more wild side of Oahu: high, green cliffs (part of the Koʻolau Range), their heads covered with clouds and further offshore with turquoise waters, coves and small islands near the coastline. It is also of great historical importance because here the first King Kamehameha and his fighters defeated the Oahu army and united all the islands under the rule of a single leader. It is recommended to bring a thin overcoat because usually winds instead of strong and cooler instead of the height of the cliffs. Indeed, the meaning of the name NU`UANU PALI is “cold elevations”. The observation deck is open daily until 16:00. free admission. From Waikiki, drive east on H-1 and turn to Route 61, also called PALI HIGHWAY.
