Tucked away in Honolulu’s Maliki district lies Lokahi Brewery, a relatively new yet quickly beloved addition to the city’s growing craft beer scene. Since its inception, Lokahi has strived to embody the spirit of “lokahi,” which means unity, harmony, and balance in Hawaiian. With its community-driven approach, artisanal brews, and cozy atmosphere, this brewery has become a haven for locals and visitors alike.

Being Makiki residents we were thrilled at the opening of this small brewery near home. To have a place within walking distance where we can enjoy a great beer and food is an asset for every neighborhood. This is a place where you can feel at home and enjoy a conversation or pub game without making your voice hoarse. We hope you’ll love it as much as we do!

Humble Beginnings with a Passion for Craft

Lokahi Brewery’s story began with a group of friends and homebrewers who shared a common love for beer and the Hawaiian lifestyle. Fueled by a desire to create something special that would bring people together, they embarked on a journey to open their own brewery. With a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, they honed their skills and developed unique beer recipes that reflect the island’s rich culture and flavors.

What sets Lokahi Brewery apart from other breweries in Honolulu is its intimate and welcoming neighborhood vibe. The space is modest in size, but it’s filled with warmth—dim lighting, wooden accents, and local art on the walls create a laid-back, cozy setting that feels like home. Lokahi prides itself on being a place where neighbors, friends, and strangers can gather, relax, and enjoy quality beer.

A Unique Lineup of Beers

Lokahi Brewery offers an impressive selection of craft beers, each carefully brewed with local ingredients and inspired by the flavors of Hawaii. Some of their standout brews include:

  • Kiawe Smoked Porter: A rich, dark porter with a unique twist—this beer is brewed using kiawe wood, a type of mesquite found in Hawaii. The result is a smoky, robust flavor that pairs perfectly with BBQ or grilled meats.
  • Pineapple Pale Ale: A refreshing, tropical beer that balances the bitterness of a pale ale with the sweet, tangy notes of fresh pineapple. This crowd-pleaser is a tribute to Hawaii’s signature fruit.
  • Lilikoi Wheat: Brewed with passionfruit (lilikoi), this light, fruity wheat beer has become one of Lokahi’s most popular offerings. Its crisp, slightly tart flavor is perfect for a sunny day on the islands.
  • Hibiscus Saison: This floral and slightly spicy farmhouse ale is brewed with hibiscus flowers, giving it a vibrant pink hue and a subtle floral aroma that enhances its refreshing taste.

Each beer reflects the brewery’s commitment to blending classic brewing techniques with local Hawaiian flavors, ensuring that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Their kitchen serves up a variety of dishes that are thoughtfully crafted to pair well with their beers, making Lokahi a great spot for both drinks and a satisfying meal. Some highlights from their menu include:

  • Loco Moco Sliders: A playful take on the traditional Hawaiian comfort food, these sliders feature juicy beef patties, rice, and a rich brown gravy, all topped with a fried egg. It’s a hearty, flavorful bite that complements Lokahi’s beers perfectly.
  • Beer-Battered Fish Tacos: Fresh, locally-sourced fish dipped in a light beer batter, fried to perfection, and served with zesty slaw and a drizzle of citrus aioli.
  • Pretzel with Kiawe Mustard: A warm, soft pretzel served with a house-made mustard featuring kiawe wood smoke, offering the perfect balance of tangy and smoky flavors.
  • Pulled Pork Nachos: These nachos are loaded with tender, slow-cooked pulled pork, melty cheese, jalapeños, and a drizzle of lilikoi BBQ sauce—a local twist on a classic favorite.

The menu is designed to complement Lokahi’s beers, ensuring that you’ll have a memorable dining experience alongside their fantastic brews.
