The annual Aloha Festivals Floral Parade, is the largest Hawaiian cultural celebration in the nation uniting the Hawaii community for a colorful procession of Hawaiian culture.

A month long celebration of Hawaiian culture culminates with the floral parade featuring marching bands, floats, hula dancers, pageant winners, and elegant pa’u (horseback) riders draped with flowers (yes, they’re all real!) and magnificent lei. Representatives of the royal court make their grand appearance to complete the parade line-up.

Each year expresses a different theme for the parade such as:  “No Ke Kai Kakou E,” which translates to “We are of the Sea.”  Decorations reflect each year’s theme and showcase lots of colorful flowers grown in Hawaii to create the dazzling displays the Aloha Festivals Parade is known for.

The route begins at Ala Moana Beach Park and makes its way down Kalakaua Avenue all the way to Kapiolani Park.  This gives plenty of opportunities to view the procession as it winds its way through the heart of Waikiki.
If you’re lucky to be visiting Waikiki in September you won’t want to miss this spectacular display. Dating back to 1946, the Aloha Festival events have become an annual island tradition enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. If you love a good parade there’s really no other like this and you may even want to plan your trip around it!
